Design and Optimisation of Structural Parts in an RC Car

This project focuses mainly on the design of the steering mechanism and structural parts of a radio controlled (RC) car. The structural elements like chassis, suspension arms, shock tower, drive links, brake pads and suspension assemblage are designed and manufactured. The car runs on the special fuel that is nitro methane-based and invented for car engines. Unique lubricants are added to the fuel mix to protect the engine from exuberant heat and wear; the lubricants work in much the same way as gas-oil mixtures in numerous chainsaws. A pump or exclusive bottle may be applied to get the fuel into the RC car’s fuel tank, and filters in the fuel line may need to be substituted from time to time. It is an IC engine with the engine capacity of 3cc which uses a glow plug for it is ignition that is heated by what is known as a ‘glow starter’. This heat is then held by the plug and is employed to fire the engine strokes for the remainder of the running time. The car has a four wheel drive with a single gear. The car is run and controlled by the remote control with the frequency of 2.4GHz.Servo motor is used for the steering and acceleration mechanism. The engine and battery box are employed according to their requirements. All the fictitious elements are made from Aluminum alloy to make the car as light as possible. Delrene is employed to give rise to steering links.
